A Mothers Poem

As she lay in her room sleeping
I think of the memories of the day I will be keeping

Of her smile and her unknowing inspiration
She gives me opportunity to show my dedication

She may not understand the news in the world today
But she is willing to share hers in her own way

I realize there are things she doesn't need to know in her innocence
it's part of life, we can't all always show our common sense

Sometimes others look at us and wonder how her behavior came to be
I realize they will never know all the love she brings out in me

When she struggles to find the right words, But can't be understood
It's not easy and even we don't always say what we should

We struggle to find the words to help her understand
Sometimes we cope, we manage and we plan

When her anger is too much for her to bear
It is then we have to show how much we care

When her body doesn't move the way she wants it too
that is when we have to show the most patience in all we do

She may not see what is expected and accepted in our world
It is up to us to make the world accept this bright and loving girl

At the end of every day
I kiss her and say Thank God for today
