OT Tips and Suggestions


Sometimes it helps to break tasks or activities up into indiviual components. It may also help to use pictures to visual each step.  Here are are a few samples of tasks strips that can be used for taking a bath, going to bed and getting dressed. When a disabled person is having difficulty with a specific  part of an activity or task, that part  can be broken down further.

Brush Teeth


Under pants


Soap


pajamas

Washcloth


Get in Bed


Shirt

 
Wash hair/shampoo


Story time


Socks


Rinse off


Kiss Good night


shoes


Dry off


Lights Out


Coat

Remember to use icons that would be understood by the individual or take pictures of the actual items the individual would use. Always verbally say the words when using pictures.
